Karmapa 900 Comes to Malaysia;
Many Relics Displayed
(May 8, 2011, Kluang, Malaysia) Malaysia celebrated the 900th birth anniversary of the Dusum Khyenpa, the First Karmapa, on May 8 at Karma Drubgyu Choling in Kluang, Johor, located in West Malaysia. Besides the presiding master, Tulku Pasang Rinpoche, Venerable Lama Karma Samten from New Zealand was also in attendance. More than 500 members of the local community attended the event. The public audience received blessings from the Dusum Khyenpa statue, accompanied by Tulku Pasang Rinpoche.
The Karmapa 900 book was distributed for free in English and in a new Chinese translation. There was also a public display of 10 holy objects: Dharma robes of Dusum Khyenpa, the First Karmapa; a bone relic of Chodrak Gyatso, the Seventh Karmapa; Mother Black Pill by Khakhyab Dorje, the Fifteenth Karmapa; bone relic of Marpa Lotsawa; relic of Chokyi Jungne, the Eighth Tai Situpa; relic of Buddha Shakyamuni from Tsurphu Monastery; skull relic of Deshek Phakmo Drupa Dorje Gyalpo; hat of Lord Gampopa; bone relic of Khenchen Tashi Ozer, and an ancient Sanskrit text.
